So as I have stated before...I think I am the person in the group who is extreme A type when it comes to the city life. For me this has a been such a life changing experience. From the cold showers to traveling by foot. And I must not forget having to wash my clothes by hand.
I am beginning to notice how I tend to take a lot of things for granted. And to see the people happy about the smallest things seems to warm my heart. I'm very glad I was given this opportunity. But boy oh boy...I do miss America.
I've gone to the zoo, got my hair braided for about $8.00 USD (which is amazing because I would pay $200.00 USD at home). I've tried some of the local foods. I've had foofoo and plantain and red red. I'm not a big fan of them but I can say that I have tried them. I have realized that the food here is very spicy but I like it, for the most part. However, I have found that my favorite is Beef Kabobs and potato chips!
Life for me in another world is something new and challenging, but it's only for a while so I'm going to conquer every hurdle/challenge I get! :)
An Introduction
This blog is a record of the experiences of eight students from Michigan Technological University while working on projects in Ghana as part of the Pavlis Institute for Global Technological Leadership. The students are divided into three project groups (the laptop group, the library group, and the sanitation group), and may not always be in the same place at the same time. A brief summary of the projects can be found by clicking on the names of the groups.
